Full Moon Agra: Taj & Beyond

Prayagraj

Experience Agra like never before under the enchanting full moon. Beyond the Taj Mahal’s timeless beauty, uncover the untold stories of royal Mughal women, their influence on art, culture, and architecture. Wander through historic lanes and vibrant markets to meet the people of Agra, custodians of its rich heritage.

Explore hidden gems, from serene riverside gardens to spiritual sanctuaries, and connect deeply with Agra’s soul. Engage with its art, savor its rustic charm, and embrace moments of introspection amidst nature and history. This is Agra unveiled—its secrets, stories, and spirit revealed in a journey beyond the ordinary.

Tours and Experiences

Embark on a three-day immersive experience that unveils the hidden gems of Agra, blending history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty in an unforgettable journey.

Day 1: The Riverside Legacy

We begin by exploring the Riverside Gardens of Agra, where the city’s Mughal roots come alive. Stroll through the lush Ram Bagh, the first Mughal garden built in India, and imagine Agra as the flourishing riverside city it once was. Enjoy a serene lunch in the gardens, surrounded by history and nature.

In the afternoon, step into the bustling lanes of Akbarabad (Old Agra) with a guided walk starting from Jama Masjid to Mirza Ghalib’s ancestral home. Wander through the historic markets of Rawat Pada and Kashmiri Bazaar, once buzzing trade hubs. End the day with a soulful music session at my home, experiencing Agra’s cultural warmth firsthand.

Day 2: Rustic Charm and Wilderness

The day starts with a visit to the serene Roman Catholic Cemetery, the resting place of Agra’s colonial past, and Akbars Church, a hidden gem of faith and beauty. Explore Mariam’s Tomb, a site steeped in Mughal history that few travelers visit.

Later, we head to the Chambal River Safari, where the wilderness of Chambal awaits. Glide along the river as you spot crocodiles, turtles, and rare birds, while soaking in the rustic charm of the Bhadawar King’s estate. Enjoy authentic village hospitality amidst the serene Chambal landscape, connecting with nature and heritage like never before.

Day 3: Iconic Agra and Hidden Wonders

No trip to Agra is complete without the Taj Mahal, where we begin the day marveling at its timeless beauty. From there, we visit India’s largest Shahi Hamam, a 17th-century masterpiece under threat of demolition—a hidden treasure of Mughal architecture.

The afternoon takes us to the Kailash Temple, a place of spiritual tranquility. Finally, we end the journey at Mehtab Bagh, enjoying the Taj Mahal’s mesmerizing full moon view, a sight that captures the soul of Agra like no other.

Excellent value and well-designed walking and boat tours by extremely knowledgeable and friendly local guides. Simply a must for a city like Varanasi, which has so many hidden delights. I’m so grateful to’ve done two tours. Moreover, Roobaroo is Indian owned and operated. I’ve already recommended these peeps to my mates and I’ll continue to do so!

We contacted Roobaroo walks for a unique business requirement, as we were going to produce a video in Varanasi and required expert know-how for the on-ground scene. What started as a business arrangement turned into an experience of a lifetime, as the team from Roobaroo walks created the perfect walk for us to help with our requirements. Their knowledge about Varanasi, their innate ability to pre-judge our volatile requirements and arrange for the same, and overall, the personal attention given to each and everyone during the tour was something which we did not anticipate.

We were able to capture some iconic events, which are usually little known to the outside world but par for the course for our guides. I hope I get to meet the team again when I plan my visit to Varanasi with my families, an enthralling place which is ripe with so much history that it demands multiple visits.

During our stay in Varanasi we attended three tours with Roobaroo Walks. These were 1. The Essential Varanasi Walk (northern part of the city) 2. the City of Good Life Walk (southern part of the city) and 3. the Food Walk (street food tour).

We thoroughly enjoyed each tour and would recommend Roobaroo Walks to anyone travelling to Varanasi. The city is incredible, however, it was intentionally designed to feature a complex network of small alleys, which can be really tricky to navigate if you are a traveller. Accordingly, a guided tour is a great way to really make the most of your time in Varanasi and will also give you an enhanced insight into local life.

Anchal and Aayush are fantastic tour guides. They are both extremely kind, well-spoken and fun. They answered all of our questions about life in Varanasi, and India in general, comprehensively and all of our tours went over time because they were so generous with their time! If you are considering booking a tour with this company you definitely should!!!

My wife and I were in Varanasi for the first time. On our first outing alone, we were pretty overwhelmed. However, having Aayush with us brought the city to life and showed us a completely different side. We ended up doing the Essential Varnassi and City of Good Life tours – we learned so much on the old city tour that we had to continue with another one the next day! Would strongly recommend to anyone who wants to better understand Varanasi.
