Dastangoi session – the lost art of storytelling
Dastangoi is a 13th century Urdu Storytelling art form where polished storytellers called Dastango’s recite engrossing stories on topics relevant to the audience. Dastango’s voice is his main artistic tool in orally recreating the dastan or the story.
The dastans in this session revolve around the heritage of Lucknow – anecdotes of its Nawabs, rickshaw walas, poets, warriors, and more. The turn of phrase and clever use of language will leave you spellbound and the compelling themes will leave you with a deeper understanding of the Awadhi culture – among the oldest and most refined in the world!
